Introduction
Global Action Plan is working in conjunction with the University of East London on a unique programme looking at instituting environmental behaviour change. Funding for this project is being provided by Jisc and the full outcomes of our programme will be shared with other academic institutions.
The Printing Efficiently and Greenly Project
Universities are like most workplaces in wanting to inspire their employees to get involved in their strategic objectives. Being split into an administrative section, which functions in a similar way to any large organisation, and an academic body, which function in a more distributed way, brings unique challenges in delivering change.
The University of East London is a proactive environmental institution, and as part of this commitment wants to make sure the significant printing resources used by an institution of its size are being consumed in an environmentally friendly manner.
The Printing Efficiently and Greenly project, in partnership with Global Action Plan, the University of East London and London Southbank University, aims to consolidate the improvements already made to printing at UEL, and making sure all remaining sections of the University are following best practise.
Part of this change will be changing the way staff interact with the print infrastructure. To make this transition in employee's working practises as smooth as possible, we will be embarking on a programme ensuring they are fully consulted about, informed about and empowered by, the changes.
For more information about the project, see the project page at the University of East London or the page outlining the project on Jisc's website.
This project is based around the "Community-based Social Marketing" environmental behaviour change programme of Doug McKenzie-Mohr Ph.D.
Funding for this programme is provided by Jisc.
